    Step by Step instructions:

    Download and log into the Axis 360 app
    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for “Axis 360” and follow the prompts to install it. (You will need your Apple ID or Google Play Store username and password.)
    2. Once installed, open the app and tap Skip to Find Your Library or School Now at the bottom of the screen.
    3. Tap in the box that says Search for My Library, type in Jefferson County Public Library, tap Search, and then tap on Jefferson County Public Library’s name.
    4. Tap in white space to right of Library ID*, enter your Jefferson County Public Library card number and tap Login.
    5. To finalize your account, tap on Account and then tap in the white space next to Name* and Email* to enter your contact information. Tap Update My Account, then OK.
    Searching and browsing for titles, authors, and keywords in Axis360

    To explore JCPL’s Axis360 collection, tap on Search (🔍) or Browse (☰).

    • Searching: Tap on the search icon (🔍), enter a title, author, or keyword and tap Search. Results are sorted by Popularity, but can be sorted by Publication Date, Title, or Author.
    • Browsing: Tap on the browse icon (☰) and select a subject.
    Notes:
    • The icons that look like an open book (e-book) or headphones (audiobook) in the top right corner of the book’s cover tell you the title’s format.
    • When the icon is green, the title is available for check out. When the icon is grey, the title is checked out and you may place a hold.
    • You can apply filters to limit the search or browse results by tapping on Filter and then tapping on Available Now, e-books, and/or Audiobooks. Filters remain in place until removed.
    Checking out and reading or listening to a title in Axis360
    Checking out: 

    Tap on the cover of a title with a green open book or headphones icon, tap Checkout, and tap Checkout again. If you have wifi access and would like to start reading or listening immediately, tap Read Online. If you would like to download the title for offline reading or listening, tap Download.

    Notes:
    • You may check out 99 titles at one time.
    • Titles checkout for 21 days and may be renewed unless another patron has placed a hold. Items are automatically returned on their due date and there are no late fees.
    Reading or Listening to a book:
    • Go to My Stuff () and tap Read/Listen Now for newly downloaded titles, or tap Continue for titles you’ve begun reading.
    • For menu options such as table of contents and adjusting font size and type, tap on the screen. Font options, bookmarks, and more will appear at the top right. The table of contents can be reached at the top left.
    • To close the book, tap on the screen and then the back arrow. Your place is automatically bookmarked.
    Placing a hold in Axis360
    Placing a hold:

    Tap on the cover of a title with a grey open book or headphones icon and tap on Place a Hold (instead of Checkout). Tap Keep Browsing once the title is successfully placed on hold.

    Checking out a hold:
    • You’ll receive an email notice when your hold is ready to check out. Once the title is ready to check out, close your email, open the Axis360 app, and tap on My Stuff ().
    • Tap On Hold and tap on the title’s cover. Tap Checkout and tap Checkout again.
    • You can change the settings in your Axis 360 online account (in a browser) so that your holds are automatically checked out.
    Notes:
    • You may have 70 titles on hold at one time.
    • You have three days to check out a hold once it becomes available for you.
    Early returns and renewing in Axis360
    Early returns:

    Items are automatically returned on their due date and there are no late fees.

    • To return a title early, tap on My Stuff, tap on the title’s cover, tap Return, then tap Yes.
    Renewing: 

    If a title does not have holds, you can renew as many times as you’d like. You will have the option to renew within three days of its due date.

    • To renew, tap on My Stuff () and tap on the title’s cover.
    • Tap Renew and Yes.
    • Press Remove and then Download Now to reactivate the title.
    1. In a browser (Chrome is recommended), visit our Axis 360 collection (jeffco.axis360.baker-taylor.com) to browse or search for titles.
    2. If your desired title is available, click Checkout next to it and enter your library card number. If your title is not available, click Place Hold and enter your library card number.
    3. Use the menu at the top left to access your list of checkouts or holds.
    4. Next to one of your checked out titles, click the Read/Listen Now button. The first time you do this, you might need to allow Axis 360 to launch pop-ups in your browser.
    5. After the book opens, click anywhere in the page to reveal the menus. Explore the options at the top right: font size, note-taking, bookmarks, audio speed, etc.
    6. To download an e-book for offline reading, click the three horizontal lines on the top left to see the Main Menu. (Only e-books can be accessed offline at this time.)
      1. Click Offline Access and wait for it to download. You will get a success message.
      2. Create a browser bookmark (click the star icon to the right of the address bar) so you can return later to the book.
      3. When you use the bookmark to return to the book, you will be prompted to enter your Library ID (your library card number).

    Notes:

    • Your checked out item will automatically return at the end of the loan period. If you wish to return an item early, click the Return button next to the title in your Checked Out list.
    • If a title does not have holds, a Renew button will appear next to your Checked Out items 3 days before it will expire.
    • You may have 99 checkouts and 70 holds at one time.
    • Once you are notified that a hold is ready, you have 3 days to check it out. You also have the option of changing the settings in your Axis 360 online account (in a browser) so that your holds are automatically checked out.
  • Install Adobe Digital Editions

    1. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions (www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions) on your computer. Follow prompts to complete installation.
    2. When the “Setup Assistant” displays, click Continue.
    3. Click Get an Adobe ID online.
    4. Your internet browser will open. Click Create an Adobe ID account.
    5. Follow the prompts and click Continue.
    6. Go back to the Adobe Setup window on your computer and enter your Adobe ID and password. Click Activate and Finished.

    Browse and check out

    1. Go to our Axis 360 collection (jeffco.axis360.baker-taylor.com) to search or browse for titles, log in with your library card, and borrow. Make sure you are looking only at e-books by clicking on one of the filters near the top right of the page and selecting "eBook."
    2. When you find a book that is available, click Checkout. (If a book is not available, click Place Hold.)
    3. Click on the menu in the top left, then Checkouts.
    4. Next to the title, click More Options, then Download.

    Download and transfer

    1. After the file downloads to your computer, open the file and it should automatically launch Adobe Digital Editions.
    2. Select the Library view.
    3. Connect your reader to your computer with its cord.
    4. Your reader should appear in the navigation on the left.
    5. Click and drag the book to your device.
    6. Safely eject your e-reader. Books can be found in My Documents, My Files, or in a Digital Editions folder.

    Early return and renewing

    • Checked out items will automatically return at the end of the loan period. If you wish to return an item early, go to your Checked Out items under the My Stuff link and select Return.

    Nook Glowlight Plus and Nook Color - Special instructions:

    1. Instead of clicking and dragging in Adobe Digital Editions, right-click the e-book in ADE and click Show File in Explorer (Windows) or Show File in Finder (Mac).
    2. Drag the e-book file from the folder that opens to the My Files folder of your NOOK. Your NOOK will appear as a removable device in the left-hand side of the Explorer or Finder window.
    3. Find the newly transferred e-book on your NOOK under Library > My Files.

    Nook GlowLight 3 and GlowLight Plus 7.8"- Special instructions:

      1. Connect your Nook to your computer.  
      2. Open Adobe Digital Editions. (You may need to tap “Turn On” on your Nook screen for the device to be recognized by ADE. If Windows File Explorer opens when you “turn on” the Nook, close the Explorer window.)
      3. Click and drag the book to your Nook.
      4. Tap on the Gear icon next to “Devices” and click on “Authorize” to authorize the device with your ADE account.
      5. Eject your Nook from your computer.
      6. You must now add your Adobe ID credentials to your Nook.
      7. Tap the upper right corner of the status bar to open Quick settings and tap on “See All Settings.”
      8. Open “My Account.”
      9. Tap “Adobe DRM Setting” (You will see your email & ADE ID number listed under “Authorized Adobe IDs, but you still need to add your password in the next step.)
      10. Tap on  “Add Adobe ID”  and enter your Adobe ID  (email) and password.

  • Note: The latest version of the Overdrive app is called “Libby.” The old version of the app is called “Overdrive.” The old version will continue to be supported, but if you are using Overdrive for the first time, we recommend choosing the new version, Libby.

    Libby

    Step by step instructions:

    Download and log into the Libby app

    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for “Libby,” and follow the prompts to download it. You will need your Apple ID or Google Play Store username and password.
    2. Once downloaded, open the app and follow prompts to register:  Tap on Yes you have a library card, then tap on "I’ll Search for a Library." Type in "Jefferson County Public Library," and select JCPL by tapping on the name in the list of options. Tap "I’ll Mostly Read in Libby" then tap "Sign In with My Library Card," enter your Jefferson County Public Library card number and tap Sign In.
    3. Finally, tap Enter the Library.

    Searching and browsing for titles, authors, and keywords in Libby

    To explore JCPL’s Libby collection, scroll down on the screen with JCPL’s logo to see featured titles and categories, tap on Search (🔍), or tap Actions and select Explore All Subjects.

    Tap Place A Hold next to a title’s cover, then tap on Keep Browsing to continue searching for titles.

    Step by step instructions:

    Download and log into the Overdrive app

    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for “Overdrive,” and follow the prompts to download it.
    2. Once downloaded, open the app and select the "Sign In with Library Card" option.
    3. Tap in the box that says "Find Your Library," type in "Jefferson County Public Library" and tap Go. From the list of options, select Jefferson County Public Library by tapping the name.
    4. Tap in the white space below Card Number, enter your library card number and tap Sign In.

    Searching and browsing for titles, authors, and keywords in Overdrive

    To explore JCPL’s Overdrive collection, tap in the grey box that says “+ Add a Title.” Next, tap on Search (🔍) or Browse (☰).

    • Searching: Tap on Search (🔍) and enter a title, author, or keyword and tap Search.
    • Browsing: Tap on Browse (☰) to the right side of the screen and select Subjects. You can now browse by type of book (fiction, romance, mystery, nonfiction, history, etc.)

    1. In a browser, visit our OverDrive collection (jefferson.overdrive.com) to browse or search for titles.
    2. When you find an available title, click Borrow and follow prompts to sign in. If the title you find is not available, click Place a Hold and follow prompts to sign in.
    3. Click on My Account, and then Loans.
    4. Click the Read Now in Browser button near the title.
    5. Use the menus at the top left to change font size, download the book for offline access, use bookmarks, or search.

    Notes:

      4. You can do nothing, and your hold will automatically be suspended as a one-time courtesy for 7 days. If no action is taken a second time, the hold will be cancelled automatically.

    Step by step instructions:

    1. Using your computer, go to jefferson.overdrive.com
    2. Search or browse for books and use the e-books filter to find an e-book that is available in the Kindle Book format (or, look at the "Available formats" on each title's details page).
    3. Click the cover of a title, click Borrow, then enter your library card number.
    4. Click My Account, and then Loans. Next to the title, click Read now with Kindle. You'll be taken to Amazon's website to complete your checkout. Sign in to your Amazon account when prompted.
    5. Click Get Library Book.
    6. Choose your Kindle device in the "Deliver to:" drop down menu and click Continue.
    7. If your Kindle is connected to wifi, the e-book will download wirelessly to your Kindle home screen.
    8. Otherwise, connect your Kindle to your computer and click Download Now to transfer via USB. Save the file to the Documents folder on your Kindle.

    More Information:

    • You may check out up to 40 titles at a time, and have 40 items on hold.

Hoopla FAQs

  • Hoopla on Android TV
    1. Go to hoopladigital.com and click Get Started. Follow the steps to set up your account:
      • Find Jefferson County Public Library.
      • Enter your library card number.
      • Enter your email address and a password.
    2. On your Android TV, search the Play store for the Hoopla app, and install it.
    3. Open the Hoopla app and sign in with your account.
    4. At the top of the next screen a 4-digit code is displayed. Using a mobile or desktop browser on another device, visit hoopladigital.com/link.
    5. Enter the 4-digit code from your TV screen and then enjoy borrowing and watching movies and television episodes, as well as searching, browsing, and accessing your favorites.

    Notes

    • Only video works on Android TV at the present. Support for audiobooks and music is coming soon.
    • Turn on closed captions by pressing the up navigation on your remote to make the progress bar appear. Select CC and press the select button. CC will have a blue tint when it is on.
    • Turn on Kids Mode by using your remote to navigate to the the blue side menu, then Settings, then Kids Mode, and Turn On.
    Hoopla on Chromecast
    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for the “Hoopla digital” app, and install it.
    2. Open the app and follow the steps to set up your account: tap Sign Up, find Jefferson County Public Library, and follow prompts to enter your library card number, enter your email address, and create a password.
    3. Plug Chromecast into your TV, then connect the USB power cable to your Chromecast.
    4. Plug the other end of the USB cable into either an open USB port on your TV, or the included power adapter that plugs into an outlet.
    5. Open the Hoopla app on your device. You will see the Cast button in the top right hand corner. Tap this button and you will be shown a list of available Chromecast devices.
    6. Select the one you wish to cast to. Once the connection is established, the button will change, letting you know that the app is ready to cast.
    7. Start playing a video and it will be handed off to Chromecast for you to enjoy on your TV screen.
    8. You can control the playback by tapping on the small bar at the bottom of your mobile device’s screen, which will bring up the full screen controls, including a progress bar, access to the subtitle/closed captions selector, play/pause, etc.
    9. To access the volume control, tap the Cast button and you will see a slider allowing you to adjust the volume.
    10. To stop casting, tap the Cast button in the top right corner and Stop Casting.
    11. Your smartphone or tablet must be connected to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast or TV with Chromecast built in.
    Hoopla on Roku
    1. Go to hoopladigital.com and click Get Started. Follow the steps to set up your account:
      • Find Jefferson County Public Library.
      • Enter your library card number.
      • Enter your email address and a password.
    2. On your Roku, navigate to Streaming Channels, then Search Channels, and search for "hoopla." Click to add the channel.
    3. Select the Hoopla channel from your channels, and sign in with your account.
    4. At the top of the next screen a 4-digit code is displayed. Using a mobile or desktop browser on another device, visit hoopladigital.com/link.
    5. Enter the 4-digit code from your TV screen and then enjoy watching our currently-borrowed movies and television episodes.Roku device

    Notes

    • Roku devices running 7.6.3 and higher are supported.
    • Turn on closed captions by starting your video, then pressing the option button on your remote. Use the up or down arrow until you highlight the closed captioning option. Use the left or right arrow until you highlight the Always On option. Press the OK button and your subtitles will display on the screen.
    Hoopla on Apple TV
    1. Go to hoopladigital.com and click Get Started. Follow the steps to set up your account:
      • Find Jefferson County Public Library.
      • Enter your library card number.
      • Enter your email address and a password.
    2. Search for the "hoopla" app in the Apple TV app store, and install it.
    3. The app opens on a welcome screen. Click to open the next page and sign in.
    4. At the top of the next screen a 4-digit code is displayed. Using a mobile or desktop browser on another device, visit hoopladigital.com/link and enter the code.

    Notes

    • The Hoopla app is available on 4th and 5th gen devices. AirPlay is supported on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen devices.
    • Enjoy audiobooks, movies, music and television through Hoopla and Apple TV. 
    • Turn on closed captions by swiping down with your remote to access the info, subtitles, and audio information menu. Swipe left or right to select subtitles, swipe again to select English. Swipe up until the menu goes away and your subtitles will display on screen.
    Hoopla on Amazon Fire TV
    1. Go to hoopladigital.com and click Get Started. Follow the steps to set up your account:
      1. Find Jefferson County Public Library.
      2. Enter your library card number.
      3. Enter your email address and a password.
    2. Go to the Fire TV app store on Amazon and search for "hoopla." Select the Fire TV device on which you’d like to install the app and click "deliver."
    3. In a few moments, you should see the Hoopla app. It might be at the very end of the "Your Apps and Games" section. Once you find the app, you can press the option button to choose to move it higher on the list.
    4. Open the Hoopla app and sign in with your account.
    5. At the top of the next screen a 4-digit code is displayed. Using a mobile or desktop browser on another device, visit hoopladigital.com/link and enter the code.
    6. After entering the code, the Hoopla app on Fire TV should be synced to your existing hoopla account. At this point, you will be able to browse and borrow movie and TV titles from the hoopla library as well as browse and borrow from your "favorites" list. Remaining borrows for the month (determined by your library) will be shown in the app.

    Notes

    • Only video works on Fire TV at the present. Support for audiobooks and music is coming soon.
    • Currently, 1st and 2nd gen devices are supported. Support for 3rd gen devices is coming soon.

    2. Click on Browse and choose Audiobooks, Movies, Music, Comics, E-books or Television.
    3. Use the Search box to find a specific title.
    4. To check out a title, click or hover on the cover image, then click Borrow.
    5. Click Play to listen or watch. A safe browser plug-in called Widevine Media Optimizer is required on Firefox. Follow prompts to install. Go to www.hoopladigital.com/support for troubleshooting.
    6. Borrowed titles are listed under My Hoopla. From here you can:
      • Play or read the title.
      • See when it will be returned.
      • Return it early.
      • Add it to your Favorites (heart icon).

    Notes

    • Hoopla content is only available via streaming on computers, requiring an internet connection.
    • All of the titles are available all of the time, so there’s no requesting or waiting.
    • You may borrow 10 titles per month, and the count resets the first of the month. Daily borrowing limits for the system also apply, and those reset at midnight. If you encounter a limit, add your items to your “Favorites” and try again after midnight.
    • Checkout Periods
      • Videos: 3 days
      • Music: 7 days
      • Audiobooks, E-books, Comics: 21 days
    • Titles are automatically returned at the end of the check-out period. If you are not finished, you are welcome to borrow it again. Music titles can be borrowed only 2 times in 1 month.

    Step by step instructions:

    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for the “Hoopla digital” app, and install it.
    2. Open the app and follow the steps to set up your account: tap Sign Up, find Jefferson County Public Library, and follow prompts to enter your library card number, enter your email address, and create a password.
    3. Use Search (magnifying glass icon) for specific items, or use the icons at the bottom of the screen to browse Video, Music, or Books.
    4. To check out a title, tap on the cover image, then tap Borrow.
    5. Tap Play to watch or listen. 
    6. Access what you have checked out by tapping My Hoopla. From there you can:
      1. Play the title.
      2. See when it will be returned.
      3. Return it early.
      4. Add it to your Favorites.
      5. Download it to watch offline on your device. The download will expire when the loan expires.

    Notes

    • All of the titles are available all of the time, so there’s no requesting or waiting.
    • You may borrow 10 titles per month, and the count resets the first of the month. Daily borrowing limits for the system also apply, and those reset at midnight. If you encounter a limit, add your items to your “Favorites” and try again after midnight.

      • Videos: 3 days
      • Music: 7 days
      • Audiobooks, E-books, Comics: 21 days

    Download and log into the RBdigital app

    1. Go to the app store on your device, search for “RBdigital,” and follow the prompts to install it. You will need your Apple ID or Google Play Store username and password.
    2. Once downloaded, open the app and tap "Not a member? Register now."
    3. Select Colorado, then Jefferson County Public Library.
    4. Tap "Create Account" and follow prompts to enter library information, RBdigital account information, and personal information.
    5. To finalize your account, tap on Menu (☰), tap on My Account, tap on Settings, tap on Auto-Download Titles, and finally press on the white circle to turn on the option to automatically download titles once checked out. Tap Back, tap Back again, and then press on Home to return to the main page.

    Searching and browsing for titles, authors, and keywords in RBdigital

    To explore JCPL’s RBdigital collection, tap on Search (🔍) or Menu (☰).

    • Searching: Tap on Search (🔍) and tap Audiobooks or Magazines. In the white box, enter a title, author, or keyword and tap Search. You can use the Advanced Search drop-down menus to search by Genre, Availability or Audience.
    • Browsing: Tap on Menu (☰) and select Audiobooks or Magazines. Scroll down to browse by Most Popular, Bestseller, Newly Added, or Recommended. Scroll left and right to view more titles in each category.
    Notes:

    “Checkout” written in red text means the title is available for check out. “Hold” written in yellow text means the title is checked out and you may place a hold.

    Checking-out and placing holds in RBdigital

    Checking-out:
    • Tap on Checkout and the title will automatically download, per step #5 in the “Download and log into the RBdigital app” section listed above.
    • Tap Play to listen to the title.
    Notes:
    • You may check out 10 titles at one time.
    • Titles check out for 21 days and may be renewed unless another patron has placed a hold. Items are automatically returned on their due date and there are no late fees.
    Placing a hold:

    Tap on Hold next to the title’s cover (instead of Checkout). Tap OK once the title is successfully placed on hold.

    Checking out a hold:
    • RBdigital will automatically check out the title to your account when it becomes available for checkout. You will receive an email stating the title is available for download when the title is ready.
    • When you are notified via email that your title has been checked out, go to the Menu (☰) in the app, tap on Checked Out, and then tap on Download next to the title’s cover. (If you turned on automatic downloads, this step will occur automatically, per step #5 in the “Download and log into the RBdigital app” section listed above.)
    • Once the title is fully downloaded, it will read “Downloaded” next to the title’s cover. Tap Play to listen to the title.
    Notes:

    You may have 3 titles on hold at one time.

    Reading or listening to a title in RBdigital

    1. Go to Menu (☰) and tap on Checked Out.
    2. Tap on Play next to the title’s cover.
    3. To close the book, tap on Back to the upper left of the screen. Your place is automatically bookmarked.

    Early returns and renewing in RBdigital

    Early returns:

    Items are automatically returned on their due date and there are no late fees.

    • To return a title early, tap on Menu (☰), tap on Checked Out, tap on the title’s cover, tap Return, then tap OK.
    Renewing:

    If a title does not have holds, you can renew once for an additional 7 days within three days of its due date.

    • To renew, tap on Menu (☰), tap on Checked Out, tap on Renew.
  • Create an account

    1. In a browser, go to jeffersoncoco.rbdigital.com
    2. Click Register, then enter your library card number and fill out the form, then click Register.

    Audiobooks

    1. Download and install the audiobook desktop app, called RBdigital Media Manager (jeffersoncoco.rbdigital.com/#/help/support), on your computer (choose between Windows and Mac).
    2. Open the app if it does not open automatically, and log in with the account you created.
    3. Return to the page (jeffersoncoco.rbdigital.com/) you used to create your account, or click Browse for a title online! at the top right of the app.
    4. Search or Browse categories to find a book. Use the Filter option to refine your search.
    5. When you find a title, click on the cover, then click Checkout (or Hold).
    6. Click Download and choose Open if given a choice. The RBdigital Media Manager should automatically open. If it does not open, open it, then click Refresh.
    7. Click Play to listen.

    Magazines

    1. In a browser, go to jeffersoncoco.rbdigital.com and log in with the account you created.
    2. Browse the magazine collection by genre, or search by title or keyword.
    3. Select a magazine to check out by clicking on the cover.
    4. Click Checkout.
    5. Click Read to read on your PC or Mac.
  • Axis 360:

    • You may have 99 checkouts and 70 holds at one time.
    • The loan period is 21 days.
    • You have three days to check out a title after you receive the hold notification. You can turn on automatic checkouts in your Axis 360 online account settings.

    Flipster:  Enjoy unlimited checkouts and no due dates. Some magazines expire.

    Freegal:  Enjoy unlimited streaming with an internet connection, and three song downloads (for offline use) per month.

    Hoopla: 

    • You may borrow 10 titles per month.
    • All of the titles are available all of the time, so there’s no waiting or requesting.
    • The loan period is 21 days for e-books and audiobooks, 3 days for videos, and 7 days for music.
    • Your monthly count resets the first of the month.
    • Daily borrowing limits for the system also apply, and those reset at reset midnight. If you encounter either limit, add your items to your “Favorites” and try again after midnight.

    Kanopy:

    • You may borrow 10 titles per month.
    • All of the titles are available all of the time, so there’s no waiting or requesting.
    • The loan period is 3 days.
    • Your monthly count resets the first of the month.

    OverDrive:

    • You may have 40 checkouts and 40 holds at one time.
    • The loan period is 21 days.
    • Automatic hold checkout will stop on March 2, 2020. At that time, you will have four choices when you are notified that a hold is ready for you:
      1. You can check the title out within 3 days.
      2. You can cancel the hold and let it go on to the next person.
      3. You can suspend the hold by selecting “deliver later.” This option passes the book to the next person in line while maintaining your place on the wait list. You will set the suspension period, and after that is over, you will receive the next copy available.
      4. You can do nothing, and your hold will automatically be suspended as a one-time courtesy for 7 days. If no action is taken a second time, the hold will be cancelled automatically.

    RBdigital:

    • Magazines: Unlimited checkouts and no due dates. Some magazines expire.
    • Audiobooks: 10 checkouts and 3 holds at one time. The loan period is 21 days. Audiobook holds are automatically checked out to you when they become available.
