Progress is underway for JCPL’s new Library headed to South County!
We have partnered with Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) to lead the development of our new Library location. They’ll put their unique spin on the new location while still retaining JCPL’s signature feel.
“One of our aspirations is that when you walk into a JCPL location, you can distinctly tell it’s one of our libraries,” says Steve Chestnut, JCPL’s Director of Facilities and Construction. “EUA’s proposals and ideas for the new space really aligned with ours and with JCPL brand. It was a natural fit.”
EUA’s portfolio of work includes the renovation of the Columbine Library and other local Library systems’ locations, such as the 21c Library in Colorado Springs. Two leading experts in educational and community-forward design, Kelly Wemple and Ryan Wallace, will be the Project Leads.
What’s next?
JCPL has begun the search for real estate in South County. EUA will assist us in this hunt, identifying that the building is suitable for our facility needs: Power, acreage, internet access and utilities. We also want to make sure the space fits our aspirational goals for what the space can be based on the community input you provided.
“I’m excited to find a space that allows us to make the outdoor connection that the community let us know they’d love,” says Chestnut. “And to have additional technologies, services and programs, and the ability to expand all of that.”
