Site criteria, which included size, location, convenience, technical requirements, and sustainability and stewardship, were all exceeded with this site (11100 Bradford Rd., Littleton, CO 80127). In addition, the location has an intuitive entryway and parking, potential for outdoor spaces, is adjacent to major thoroughfares, and is near other government services.

More information on the factors used to determine our new site can be found in the Recommendation for Site Selection Criteria document.

Similar to other location redesigns, JCPL will be seeking to improve space efficiency and flow, align with future service and community needs, foster increased circulation, provide collaborative areas for conversation and discovery, including a heightened occupancy of study and meeting rooms, and implement modern security systems and design to enhance overall safety.

Community and stakeholder feedback, along with the program of service, will help inform the layout and future services of the redesigned library.

Virtual events and hybrid Board meetings are presented on Zoom. For best results, you can download the Zoom mobile app or Zoom desktop client. You may also join from a browser at join.zoom.us.

For virtual events, Zoom login instructions and a link to the event are sent out 30-minutes prior to the start of the event. You will need the information in the email in order to join the meeting.

For Board Meetings, Zoom login information is listed on the Board Meeting page, including the direct meeting link, Webinar ID, passcode and call-in information.

    Step-by-step instructions: (Printable version)
Install the Boundless app and log in
    • In the app store on your device, search for “Boundless” and follow the prompts to install it. You will need your Apple ID or Google Play Store username and password.
    • Once the app is installed, open it and search for "Jefferson County Public Library" at the Welcome screen, then tap on Jefferson County Public Library (make sure the address is in Colorado).
    • Enter your Jefferson County Public Library card number (Library ID), and tap log in or sign in.

     Profiles

    • Similar to many popular online streaming services, you will now have the option to create up to five profiles under a single library card for a more personalized experience based on age. For example, teen profiles display only young adult or children’s materials, and kid profiles only display children’s materials. A main Profile must exist, but extra Profiles are completely optional and can be added or deleted at any time.
    • Enter a profile by tapping on it.
    Search or Browse
    • Use the search box at the top to search for a title, author, or keyword. Use the refine/equalizer icon () in the top right to filter and sort the search results.
    • Or, tap on the Browse icon at the bottom and use the refine/equalizer icon () to filter by subject, genre, format, availability, etc.
    • The format (e-book or audiobook) is indicated at the bottom of each book jacket.
    • When the book jacket has a diagonal banner that says Waitlist, the title is checked out and you may place a hold. Titles without that banner are available for check out.

     Check Out and Read/Listen

    • When you find an available title, tap on the cover and then tap Checkout. The title will download automatically and then open. If it does not, tap Download.
    • To read or listen to your title, tap on My Shelf, then Checkouts, then tap Read/Listen or Continue.
    • When reading an e-book, tap anywhere on the screen to reveal menu options such as table of contents, bookmarks, adjusting font size and type, etc.
    • When listening to an audiobook, use the menu items at the top and bottom to adjust audio speed, bookmark, or set a sleep timer.
    • To close the book, tap on the screen and then the back arrow. Your place is automatically bookmarked.

You may check out 20 titles at one time.

    Place a hold
    • To place a hold on a title that is checked out, tap on the cover and tap Place Hold. If you entered an email address in your profile, you’ll receive an email notice when your hold is ready to check out.
    • Once the title is ready to check out, go to My Shelf, then Holds and tap Checkout next to the title.

You may have 20 titles on hold at one time. You have three days to check out a hold once it becomes available for you.

    Early returns and renewing
    • Items are automatically returned after 21 days and there are no late fees. To return a title early, tap on My Shelf, then Checkouts. Tap on the three vertical dots at the bottom right of the book jacket, then Return and Ok.
    • If a title does not have holds, you will be able to renew it within three days of its due date. To renew, tap on My Shelf, then Checkouts. Tap on the three vertical dots at the bottom right of the book jacket, then Renew. Next, to reactivate the title, tap the three dots again and Remove, then Download Now.

We have a single phone number: 303-235-5275.

After you search for something in the catalog and you are looking at the search results, you should see a green Place Hold button next to each format.

    1. Click Place Hold across from the format you would like.
    2. After you click Place Hold, you will be prompted to log into your account, if you were not already logged in.
    3. Next, you will be asked to select the library where you would like to pick it up.
    4. Click Place Hold a second time to confirm.
    5. If the title is available, we will find it and send it over to your library within several days. If the title has a hold list, you will now be in line.
    6. You will receive an email or phone call when your hold is ready to pick up. The item will be held for you for 7 days at library buildings and 3 days at holds lockers, including the day of the notification.

By default, we keep no record of what you check out. If you want the system to start keeping track, you need to enable Borrowing History in your account, under My Settings. This feature is not retroactive; it begins with the first item you return after you enable the setting.

Please be aware: If your Borrowing History has been enabled, and you disable it, your records will be permanently erased.

After you enable your Borrowing History, it will exist as a raw list in your account. It will continue to track everything you check out, after you return it, with the exception of Prospector loans, interlibrary loans, and e-content. Learn more about using your Completed Shelf alongside your Borrowing History here.

The easiest way to search the library catalog is to type one or more words in the search box at the top of the page, and then click the Search button (the magnifying glass).

You can enter titles, authors, keywords, subjects, or a combination of all, in this search box.

After you search, you can use the filters on the left side of the page to narrow down the results. There are filters for format, availability, audience, language, and publication date, among others.

The catalog recognizes certain keywords and automatically applies filters accordingly. For example, if you search for “new kids dvds” the search gives you DVDs for children that were recently added to the collection. The search will recognize format, audience, language and "new to the library." This also works with “Spanish books” or “new music cds.”

Note: On a smaller screen, the search box will collapse to a magnifying glass icon to save space. Just click or tap on the magnifying glass to open the search box.

After you get a new library card, you will need to complete a one-time registration process to take full advantage of everything the library catalog can do, and create a unique username. An easy-to-remember username gives you quick access to your account if your library card isn’t handy. After you register, you can log in with either your username or your library card number, whichever you prefer.

    1. To get started, click on the purple Log In / My Account button at the top right hand side of the screen to open the drop-down menu. Then click on the green Log In / Register button.
    2. Enter your library card number and PIN. See these tips if you are having trouble with your PIN.
    3. You should see a Welcome message. If your name and date of birth are correct, click continue.
    4. Next, create a unique username. Your username will be visible to other users if you review items or share lists (since we wouldn't want to display your library card number publicly). You can use your username or your library card number to log in from now on.
    5. Then check the boxes to accept the Terms, Conditions, and Policies. Click Complete Account Setup. You are all set!

There are only a few of our resources that you have to access from a computer within the library, and those are Ancestry, Foundation Directory, and Generations Online.

If you can't find what you are looking for in our catalog, try Prospector next. Prospector is a group of academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming that allows you to search and borrow materials and have them delivered to your local library. If you can't find it in Prospector, you can suggest a purchase or request an interlibrary loan.

Most items fall under two checkout periods: 21 days and 7 days.

21 days: books, Lucky Day books, Lending & Express books, e-books, books on disc, downloadable and streaming audiobooks, nonfiction DVDs and TV Shows, Playaways, most Prospector loans, most Interlibrary Loans, Stories to Go bags

7 days: DVD movies, Lucky Day DVD movies, Lending & Express DVD movies, music CDs, streaming music, Wi-Fi hotspots, print magazines

Outliers include our Book Club Kits (6 weeks), Chromebooks (60 days), Hoopla and Kanopy streaming content, among others. Please see Library Card Rules for a full detailed list.

How do I get a library card?

Acceptable forms of ID for users 17+ to register for new library card:
    • State issued Driver’s License, ID card or digital ID in the MyColorado app
    • Passport, Military ID, or Matricula Consular card
    • University or School ID
Your ID doesn’t need to list CO address, but new registrants must have an address in Colorado.

JCPL’s site search process encompassed several routes for finding and exploring sites, including JCPL driving tours of the area, working with a commercial realtor, pursuing suggestions from the community and advisory council, conversations with community stakeholders, reviewing Jeffco school closures, and pursuing opportunities for partnerships and sites that were not on the market.

JCPL considered 50 properties within five broad categories: Repurposing an industrial building, repurposing a school or place of worship, partnering with a developer for a library combined with affordable housing, using a retail storefront, and purchasing open land.

Along with outreach to current Arvada Library patrons, JCPL is reaching out through a wide variety of communications channels including print, digital, social media, radio, and more! We’re also working with the local business community to reach customers who frequent the Olde Town Arvada area to gain additional feedback into this project.

Your library account has a handy feature called your Completed Shelf. While your Borrowing History is an automatically created list of every physical item (except for Prospector and ILL) you have checked out, your Completed Shelf is a list that you control. That means your Completed Shelf can be an accurate history of what you’ve actually read/listened to/watched, plus it has more features than the static Borrowing History list. You can sort and filter the Shelf, add tags or private notes to each item, and be alerted that an item is on your Completed Shelf while you are searching or browsing the catalog.

    • If you have an existing Borrowing History list, we recommend moving it to your Completed Shelf all at once, which can be done page by page, 50 items at a time. When you are looking at your Borrowing History, you should see these options:

    • In the future, as you check out and return items, you can pull up your Borrowing History in your account on a regular basis and transfer individual items onto your different Shelves. When you are looking at your recent Borrowing History, just click on Completed to the right of a title to add it to that shelf (if you completed it), or click on the dropdown arrow to select For Later (if you did not get a chance to finish it and want to check it out again later) or In Progress.

    • E-content checkouts will not be automatically recorded in your Borrowing History, but you can add them manually to your Completed Shelf. When you are logged in and searching the catalog, simply click on For Later to the right of the title to add it to your For Later Shelf, or click the dropdown arrow to select In Progress or Completed.

Please use the Student Support Request Form. Library cards allow for one copy of a book to be placed on hold at a time. As availability allows, we will help obtain multiple copies of a title for your school.

Curbside pickup is a contactless way to pick up your holds without leaving your car.

To use our Curbside Service, simply place a hold and select one of the locations offering pickup. When your items are ready, you will receive a "ready for pickup" notification. Once you have received that notification, you can stop by anytime during open hours to pick up your holds. We will keep your hold(s) on the shelves for seven days.

When you arrive to pick up your item(s), please park in a designated curbside spot (or walk up if you don't have a vehicle), and call the library phone number on the sign. Give staff your name and JCPL card number. Please open your vehicle trunk and stay or get back inside your vehicle. A staff member will then bring your item(s) out to you and place them in your open vehicle. These steps allow us to offer a contactless service that prioritizes the health of our community and staff.

Beanstack, the system we use for Summer Challenge tracking allows you to use the same account year after year. We all know how difficult it is to remember which email we used, what our password is or whether we created an account at all, but we strongly encourage you to try to find your existing account instead of creating a duplicate account. Here are the options we suggest:

    1. Try logging in. Enter your email and password here. Any luck?
    2. Try "Forgot Your Password?" Enter your email address here.
      • A red error message means you did not register last year with that email address. Try another email address if you have one, or move on to step #3.
      • A green bar means you can check your email for password reset instructions and continue.
    3. We would be happy to look you up on the staff side of the software. Just call 303-235-5275 or email ask@jeffcolibrary.org.
    4. Is this your first time participating in the Summer Challenge? You can register for the first time here.

Once you are logged back into the Summer Challenge system, you will be asked to update each "Reader Profile" (member of your family) and prompted to enroll in this year's Library Summer Challenge programs.

Let us know if you have questions.

Yes, we do! In the app store on your device, search for and install the "Beanstack tracker" app. Tap "Find your school or library." If you already registered on a computer, just sign in and start logging. Or select Sign Up and get the whole family registered.

When you are ready to begin logging, tap the plus sign.

    • To log reading minutes, select Reading, then select a Reader, and then select a logging method for reading (Log Without a Title is the quickest).
    • To log an activity, select Activity, then select a Reader, tap on Activities and Challenges, and then tap on the green plus sign next to the activity that you accomplished.

Your logging will be tracked whether you use the website or the app.

Temporary library cards expire after three weeks. Please visit any of our full-service locations with your photo ID to get your permanent library card. If you are unable to visit us, please request information about home service.

If you have used e-books or downloadable audiobooks with your temporary card number, please let a staff member know when you get your permanent card, or contact us anytime. We might need to update your accounts.

If you have a permanent card, and you see a message about expiration, please contact us.

Most items that are eligible for renewal will renew automatically, up to 12 times. Lucky Day items, material on hold for other people, and some other items will not renew. Lending and Express materials will auto-renew one time. Please consult this page to determine what types of materials are renewable.

If you want to control your renewals yourself, that is still an option: from jeffcolibrary.org, click on Log In/My Account, then Checked Out, then enter your library card number or username and PIN. Items are automatically sorted by due date. There are several options for renewing.

    • You can renew items individually by clicking on the Renew button near the title:

    • You can renew multiple titles at once by clicking in the check boxes to the left of each title and using the options on the purple bar at the bottom of the screen:

    • You can renew in batches, using the left menu to select Overdue, Due Soon, or Due Later. Click the "Select [#] items" checkbox, then use the Manage Items bar at the bottom of the screen.

Most of our meeting rooms offer a laptop computer, projector and screen, projector remote and hand held microphone. Some locations may also offer assistive devices, headphones or other cables.

    Features include:

    • Shelves: Shelves give you a way to keep track of everything you have read, watched or listened to, track what you are currently reading, watching or listening to, or what you want to borrow in the future. Your Shelves can be public or private. You can add items to your Shelves from just about anywhere when you are logged in. Look for the “For Later" button near the "Place Hold" button.
      • Your Completed Shelf is where you can store everything you’ve read, watched or listened to.
      • Your In Progress Shelf is the place for what you are reading, watching or listening to right now.
      • Your For Later shelf is like a wish list, a place to keep track of the books, movies and music you’d like to borrow in the future.
    • Single-click holds: Pick your favorite or most convenient library location. With just one click, your holds will be sent to that library.
    • Lists: A list is a collection of titles related to a topic or idea of your choosing. You can create lists for yourself (e.g. Vegetarian Cookbooks I Want to Remember, Books We Loved When My Children were Toddlers) or for other people (e.g. Emily Should Read These Books This Year, These Titles Can Get You Started with your Research), and they can be set to private or public. Lists are another way to explore the catalog and find new recommendations. Search the Catalog by List (change the second dropdown from Keyword to List) to find lists made by library staff and patrons around the world. To create your own List, select Lists from the menu under your username in your account. Click Create a New List, select the type of list you want to create, and give it a title and description. Click "+ Add to List" to add catalog titles or website URLs. When you have added all your titles, click Finished Editing. Choose who can see your list, then click Publish.
    • Ratings and Reviews: Share what you think about anything in the collection.
    • Profile: Set up a personalized profile to share your recommendations. You can also choose to follow other users if you like their lists and reviews.

When you access one of our online resources from home, we make sure you have a valid library card by asking you to log in. Please see this FAQ if you are having trouble logging in.

In addition to physical and digital library materials, the Library will provide community resources such as meeting space, Wi-Fi, computer access, programs and events, and more. JCPL will conduct facilitated community engagement in early 2025 to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on desired library services, resources and design.

The Arvada Library Redesign project is just getting started! JCPL has brought an architect on board for community engagement and will be kicking off that phase of the project in July 2024. Visit our project webpage to keep in the know about what’s happening.

Your Borrowing History is a static, raw list in your account that cannot be manipulated. However, if you have transferred your Borrowing History to your Completed Shelf, you can sort that list using the "Sort by” drop down menu, and you can filter using the options on the left side of the screen. You can also add private notes about titles, or add tags that will help you filter your list. Searching is not currently possible, but sorting, tagging and filtering are helpful.

Exporting is not currently available from your raw Borrowing History list or Completed Shelf, but your reading history can still be exported from your account in Classic Catalog.

Please use the Student Support Request Form to request materials that support student learning. Requests will be filled as availability allows.

    • Our system will automatically renew anything that is eligible for renewal, up to 12 times. If it is not eligible for renewal, the due date will stay the same.
    • If you use email, you will still receive Date Due courtesy notices, and each email will list which items renewed and which items did not renew, with due dates. If you do not use email, you can see the due dates in your online account.
    • The new due date is calculated from the current date, and the renewal period is the same as the original checkout period.
    • Only eligible items will be renewed. Ineligible items include:
      • Items with holds
      • Lucky Day items
      • Magazines
      • Hotspots (Hotspots can be renewed 3 times, but not automatically.)

    • Items from our Lending & Express Collection (Ridge Rec Center Lending Machine and Express Library West Arvada) will be auto-renewed one time.

Children under the age of 13 cannot receive messages from other members, nor can they send messages. This is a security feature designed to protect children.

For users in the United States, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act requires websites that collect personal information from children to obtain parental consent. For this reason, children are not allowed to display their real names, nor can they type their own usernames, enter comments, or add other kinds of content that require typing, since these could be used inappropriately. Children can add star ratings, age suitability and similar titles, and they can create lists using pre-defined titles. To generate a username, a child can select a combination of color and animal name.

At the end of the month in which a child turns 13, his or her account will automatically have the same privileges and features as an adult account. The system does not store exact birth dates, so the change occurs at the end of the month, rather than on the actual birthday.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child under 13 years old, you can give permission for your child to create lists and add reviews and comments on the website. In your account, choose My Settings. Under Profile, click Child account permissions.

You control what is shared from your library account. You can share your ratings, reviews, lists and items on your Shelves if you would like. You can change these settings as you go, make some things private and some public, or make everything in your account public or private.

If you have not logged in your account previously, or if you are not sure about your account credentials, try entering your library card number and your 4-digit birth year here.

    • If the purple rectangle in the top right changes to display your username, you are logged in.
    • If you see a “Welcome” message, follow prompts to continue setting up your online library account.
    • If you see “The username or PIN is incorrect. Please try again,” don't click on "Forgot your PIN?" Instead, use this PIN Reset Request. Enter your library card number there and go to your email. Follow prompts from the email to set up a new PIN. Click the purple Continue button, enter your card number and PIN again. You will either see your account Dashboard or a Welcome message. If you see "Welcome," follow prompts to set up your account.

In the future, you can log in with your card number or username and PIN, and the "Forgot your PIN?" link will provide quick help via email. If you don’t have an email address in your account, please contact us for assistance.

A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a four-digit number used when accessing your library account online.

Using a PIN along with your library card number adds an extra layer of security to your account. If you lose your card or someone obtains your library card number, a PIN helps prevent unauthorized use of your library account. If someone is able to access your library account, they can see your library history, such as what items you have checked out or on hold, your personal contact information like name and phone number, and they can check out items to your account and not return them, resulting in replacement fees on your account.

We are in the process of changing the way records for TV shows display. For the duration of the transition, you might encounter the records in both ways:

    1. If the title of a TV show does not indicate a specific season, use the View Details or Availability by Location links to see what seasons of a TV show are available. To place a hold on a specific season, click Place Hold, log in (if necessary), then select the season you'd like. Your hold is placed for all available copies of that season. Example of a TV show title that does not contain a specific season:

You can change your email address, username, or PIN after logging into your library account and selecting My Settings. To change your name, address or phone number on your account, please contact us, and we'll be happy to help.

Our catalog has some great social features for people who want to connect with other readers. However, not everyone wants to participate and some people would rather keep their reading activities private. The good news is that you have control over what gets shared with others.

To change your privacy settings, log into your account and select My Settings.

Scroll down to the Privacy section. Click Change under My Shelves and/or My Feeds and choose what you would like to keep private. Check all boxes if you want to keep everything private for your account.

In both cases, make your selection then click "Save Changes."

These settings can be changed at any time.

If you don’t want an item you have requested to become available when you’re unable to pick it up, you can pause the hold. Pausing, or suspending, retains your place in line until you’re ready to resume. It’s useful if you have items on hold and go on vacation, or already have things checked out that you haven’t finished yet.

To pause your hold, log into your account and go to your On Hold list. Click Pause Hold next to the hold you would like to suspend. When you are ready to continue in the hold line, click Resume Hold next to the title to undo the Pause.

After 255 days, your paused hold will be automatically cancelled. If you just want to save a title as a reminder to check it out later, use your For Later Shelf.

    Not at the present, unfortunately.

South Jefferson County will be served by both Columbine Library and the new South Jefferson County Library. Together, these locations will provide this community with more convenient access to library resources, staff and services.

For virtual events, Zoom login instructions and a link to the event are sent out 30-minutes prior to the start of the event. You will need the information in the email in order to join the meeting.

For Board Meetings, Zoom login information is listed on the Board Meeting page, including the direct meeting link, Webinar ID, passcode and call-in information

Similar to many popular online streaming services, you will now have the option to create up to five profiles under a single library card for a more personalized experience based on age. For example, teen profiles display only young adult or children’s materials, and kid profiles only display children’s materials. A main Profile must exist, but extra Profiles are completely optional and can be added or deleted at any time.

    • You can have up to five profiles per library card number, either general (adult), teen or kid, and the profiles will share the loan and hold limits of the one card number.
    • Each profile can be customized to the individual based on age and reading interests.
    • This feature is perfect for guardians sharing their account with children or for those who want to maintain different reading profiles.
    • If you will be the only one using Boundless on your device, you can delete all the profiles except the one you want to use.
    • Use "Manage Profiles" to change current settings such as profile image, email notifications, checkout history, reading interests, and more! A display name is required for each profile, while an email address, avatar and profile PIN are optional.
    • Each profile allows you to select reading interests and will suggest reading recommendations based on your choices.

There may be a bit of a delay between something being checked out and its status changing in your Holds list. Sometimes closing out of the app and opening it back up will force your account to refresh.

Checking out non-JCPL barcodes is not currently possible. If you try to check out with a Prospector/ILL barcode, you will see an error message that says, “Cannot identify this item, see a Jefferson County Public Library staff member for help.”

MyJCPL barcode checkout will work with most devices with a camera. Currently, the compatibility standards for the app are Apple devices running an iOS 16.0 or later or an Android device running 9.0 or later.

Two people are allowed in the space at a time. The space outside is used for other purposes, so we need you to stay in the dedicated media studio.

First, you need to register. Individuals 18 years and older with a valid Jefferson County Public Library card can complete the online registration form for Express Library access. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of submission.

Second, you will need to comply with all standard JCPL policies in addition to Express Libraries Use Policies:

    • My library card only allows entry for myself and any accompanying minor(s) I am responsible for.
    • I will make sure the entrance door closes behind me when entering the Express Library.
    • I will not open the door to vendors or any other persons trying to enter the Express Library.
    • I will be responsible for the conduct and behavior of all accompanying minors under the age of 18.
    • I will notify JCPL if my card is lost or stolen.
    • I will comply with any posted requirements and announcements made.
    • I will notify staff if I observe anyone violating any part of these policies.

    Registered patrons also understand:

    • Security cameras monitor the use of the Express Library at all times.
    • I am aware that JCPL staff will not be present.
    • The Express Library phone can be used to speak with JCPL staff during standard contact hours or to reach 911 in cases of emergency.
    • Express Library West Arvada has a limited occupancy capacity.
    • Access may be revoked for violating any of these policies.

To keep your library account secure, you can log into your Jeffco Library account on only one device at a time. If you are logged in on one device and then log in somewhere else, your first session will be logged out automatically. This includes the My JCPL mobile app. If you have logged in on your computer and then open the app, you will be logged out on your computer automatically.

From the home screen, tap the card icon in the upper right-hand corner.

We cannot extend the pickup period for a Holds Locker hold once your items are in it. However, you can have your item(s) moved from the holds locker to a JCPL location and retrieve your items via walk-in or curbside services. There will be a delay before your hold is ready, and you will receive notification when your hold is ready to be picked up.

These items will be available upon request.

Sometimes an account creator may want to share one of their readers with another account creator. For example, a parent may want to share a reader's profile with a teacher or another caregiver. In these cases, the reader is shared, meaning both account creators may take actions on the reader's profile, and are able to edit/update it collaboratively.

To share a reader, log in and toggle to the reader you want to share. Click on that reader's name and select Edit Reader. Scroll down to Share This Reader, enter the email address of the person you want to share with, then click Send. The person with whom the reader was shared will receive a message that the account creator wants to share this reader with them. They will be prompted to add their own account (if they do not have one), or enter a code to add this reader to an existing account.

If you see one of these errors, it could mean the EPUB or PDF format was mistakenly selected when you checked out an e-book in your main library account. If you want to read the title in the Boundless app or in a browser, you will need to return it and check it out again, this time selecting "Boundless eBook."

Use the Boundless app to return the title, unless the title does not appear in the app. In that case, you will need to log into your Boundless account using a browser. Click on the top left menu, then click Checkouts. Look for More Options next to the title, or select the three dots, then Return. Then search and check the title out again. If the title has a waitlist, please contact us for help with returning the title without losing your place in line.

    • The "Boundless eBook" format is needed to read e-books with the Boundless app on a smartphone or tablet, and in a browser. All Boundless e-books should be available in this format.
    • The "Adobe EPUB" or "EPUB" format is needed if you are transferring the e-book to an e-reader. Most Boundless e-books are available in this format.
    • The "Adobe PDF" or "PDF" format indicates the e-book will display in fixed layout in the app and on an e-reader. The book will appear like an exact copy of the print book, and the text is not resizable. A handful of Boundless titles are available in PDF format because of the desire to preserve the original layout of the book, such as with picture books.

Two microfilm readers are available at the Lakewood Library. The machines can crop, print, email and save to a flash drive.

You will receive an email or a phone call. The item will be held for you for 7 days, including the day the notification was received.

Most items will automatically renew 12 times if there are no holds. Lending and Express items will automatically renew one time. The renewal period is the same as the original loan period, and starts at the current date. For a full list of what is renewable, please see our Library Card Rules here.

Publishers require us to abide by a “one copy/one user” model, so we have to purchase most e-books in the same way we purchase physical books.

At 64,058 square feet and a lot size of 7.04 acres, the current site exceeds original size requirements included in site criteria. While no decisions have been made at this time, the space allows for future expansion or potential partnership opportunities.

    • The Express Library collection is a special collection of highly popular DVDs and books. These items are non-holdable and available to check out on a first-come, first-served basis. Items will only renew one time.
    • The books and DVDs at the Express Library are listed in our catalog, so you can see what is there before you go. Just search for the keywords "Lending & Express" and filter to "Express Library West Arvada" as a location under the "Available Now" filter.
    • Express Library DVDs check out for one week, and Express Library books check out for three weeks. Most of our normal lending guidelines apply to materials from the Express Library collection, except that items will renew only one time.
    • You can request items at other locations to be sent to the Express Library for pick up. When you place a hold in our catalog, select "Express Library West Arvada" for your Hold Pickup Location. When you are notified your hold is ready to pick up, visit the Express Library West Arvada during open hours. The item will be held for you for seven days.
    • You can return Express Library collection items (or any other library items) to any 24/7 Returns Bin or library location.

If the door doesn't open, the Express Library building capacity may have been reached, or there may be an issue with your JCPL account.

The Express Library has an occupancy capacity limit of 25. If the entry panel message says capacity has been reached, please wait for a patron to exit the building, then scan your JCPL card to gain entry.

If you are still unable to access the building, please contact JCPL staff at 303-235-5275 to check the status of your account. (Phone support is available during standard Contact Hours).

Please use the Student Support Request Form to receive a PDF copy of 30 computer-use-only cards. These cards may only be posted online behind a password, for example in Google Classroom. Reminder! These cards will grant students access to everything on JCPL’s website, including content intended for adults.

In addition to each person having a lending limit of 10 titles per month, we also have a daily, system-wide budget limit. Hoopla's lending model is pay-per-use, so we divide our annual budget into 365 days to spread it out. When all JCPL patrons using Hoopla collectively reach that daily limit, you will see this error message and will not be able to borrow until the daily reset at midnight. The best way to avoid this is by using Hoopla as early in the morning as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience.

We have numerous measures to maintain patron safety while using the Express Library:

    • Security cameras monitor the Express Library space at all times
    • Onsite telephone connects with 911 or library staff during standard contact hours for assistance
    • Large windows and unobstructed sightlines for ease of visibility
    • Loudspeaker system for scheduled and emergency announcements
    • Patrons must be registered to access the space

No, anyone under the age of 18 must be in the company of a registered parent or guardian to use the Express Library.

After you do a search in our main catalog, look for a link that says "Search other resources." Click on that, and then click on "Try your search in Prospector."

Click "Request It" next to the item you would like to request from Prospector.

In the pop-up box, select Alliance - Jeffco Public Library from the dropdown under "With which institution are you affiliated?"

Enter your name, library card number, and pickup location, then click Submit.

Please note that it is not currently possible to pick up Prospector holds at Holds Lockers, and Prospector is not accessible via the MyJCPL mobile app.

If the student has an email attached to their account, they may reset their PIN via JCPL’s website. If the student does not have an email associated with their account, they may call the Library at 303-235-5275 to reset their PIN. A library card number is necessary to reset a PIN over the phone.

You may contact the electric vehicle charging vendor through the mobile app with any questions or concerns. Vendor contact information is also available on the charging stations.

Belmar Library's stations are serviced by Chargepoint app. Evergreen Library charging stations are serviced by SynergEV app. Columbine, Lakewood and Standley Lake Library are all serviced by Blink Charging App

JCPL provides you with three hours of complimentary charging station use. Following the free three-hour time period, a charge of $2 per 15 minutes of charging, with a maximum charge of $40, will apply. This fee is intended to ensure equitable access and maximize patron use of the charging stations.

JCPL charging stations will be available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. In accordance with the JCPL library grounds policy, overnight parking on library property is not permitted.

Charging stations are currently located at Belmar, Columbine, Evergreen, Lakewood and Standley Lake Library. JCPL will share information as additional locations become available.

To use the charging stations at Columbine, Lakewood or Standley Lake, patrons will need to download the Blink Charging app.

As part of this initiative, we have secured grants and reimbursements to install electric vehicle charging stations at select libraries.

The room is not entirely soundproof, but additional materials have been installed to absorb sound and enhance the recording quality. Because the recording studio is in a public space, 100% proofing is not possible.

Belmar has the only dedicated recording space at this time.

We cannot allow outside software to be installed, so you are limited to the recording apps that are provided. If you are interested in using a different software, please speak to staff to make a recommendation.

    • To store, save, or transfer media (recordings, audio projects, completed projects) please bring an external memory device. Memory device must be compatible with usb-a or usb-c plugs. We recommend having at least 1 gig of storage.
    • Memory devices may need to be formatted to a non-FAT file system to store larger projects. We can assist with this at the Studio.
    • Memory devices plugged into the computer will be scanned for viruses and may quarantine or delete files. We recommend using an unused memory device and storing important documents or files prior to the session.

Please check with us before bringing in outside equipment to ensure it is compatible.

At this time, orientation sessions are only available to cardholders aged 14 and older.

We can provide an overview of equipment, podcasting basics and audio recording standards to follow. Help will be available to troubleshoot any recording issues you may have. But if you need professional quality, we recommend seeking out a local professional production house.

At this time, the space is not set up for music production. If you are interested in bringing in outside equipment, please contact us beforehand.

It will be due back 60 days after you check it out. You will receive a courtesy reminder notice via email five days before it is due. If it is not returned by the due date, you will get email notices at one, five and seven days overdue to remind you to return it.

These titles are automatically added into the Destiny web catalog. For more information on this program please contact your digital teacher librarian or the Coordinator for Library Services with Jeffco Public Schools.

Students will need their own library card to check out any of JCPL’s downloadable content (e-books, audiobooks, music, movies etc.). It is not recommended that the classroom set of computer-use-only cards be used for this purpose. Students may request a free temporary library card online. If they already have a card, this form will send an email with the card number to the email on file. Students should contact the library if they don’t remember their card number or pin. Library card numbers are not revealed over the phone.

JCPL does not offer laptops for check out to students. WiFi hotspots may be borrowed to support student learning. Please use the Student Support Request Form to request a Wi-Fi hotspot for a student.

Please use Student Support Request Form to contact the Library so that we may help the student access materials. The student may also use one of the school’s computer-use-only cards to access materials online while the issue is being resolved.

Please use the Student Support Request Form  to submit a request to reset PINs. The accounts are attached to the Digital Teacher Librarian at each school. PINs may also be reset through JCPL’s website using each school’s Digital Teacher Librarian email.

We have a variety of activities from laser tag to escape rooms, along with literacy-based events such as Musical Chairs with a Book and Book Talks. Learn more about JCPL’s Outreach Services.

The safety of our patrons and our staff is our highest priority. There may be some situations in which staff cannot safely provide curbside services. Curbside Service may be temporarily suspended either at individual locations or system-wide for inclement weather or dangerous conditions.

Please check our website to find out if Curbside Service is suspended. If it is, there will be a banner at the top of jeffcolibrary.org stating that Curbside Service has been suspended due to weather.

If you arrive at your Library and the curbside signs are covered with plastic bags, the service has been temporarily suspended. The building may still be open for walk-in services, and you may come inside to pick up your holds.

You can also call us at 303-235-5275 to inquire about the availability of services at your preferred Library or extend the timeframe for picking up your items.

The Holds Locker touchscreen may be overheating. You may still retrieve your items by scanning your JCPL card, trying a variety of different angles. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience! We are working towards a solution. Please call 303-235-5275 for further assistance.

Unfortunately, not all of an author’s titles are available as an e-book or downloadable audiobook.

E-book and downloadable audiobook pricing for libraries is very different, often much higher, than what you might pay from a retail store. On average, we pay more than $50 per copy, sometimes making it cost prohibitive to buy dozens of copies of one item.

OverDrive (Libby) is the exclusive provider of Kindle-compatible e-books to public libraries in the US. That means that most e-book titles in our Libby collection are compatible with Kindle e-readers, but e-book titles in our Boundless and Hoopla collections are not compatible. Note that not all titles are made available in the Kindle format, and sometimes the release of the Kindle format is delayed.

Unfortunately, the vendor platforms through which you get your e-books or downloadable audiobooks do not support automatic renewals.

There are some titles that publishers do not allow libraries to buy. While we may be able to get certain titles in print or on disc, the e-book or downloadable audiobook formats may not be available. Some of these popular titles may only be available for people to purchase and not available for sale to libraries. Paid services, like Audible™, have exclusive agreements with authors and publishers that prevent sales to libraries.

Most publishers let libraries lease e-books and downloadable audiobooks for either two-year terms or 26 checkouts. Once these terms are met, libraries must repurchase the titles. This is why you may see titles with no copies available as we work to repurchase items.

Yes. Items checked out from the Lending Machine or Express Library can be renewed one time.

Our normal lending guidelines apply to anything from the Lending Machine.

Children ages 0 - 5 are eligible for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, and children ages 5 - 12 are eligible for our 500 Books Before Middle School program in addition to our Library Summer Challenge program. All three use Beanstack. Be sure to count any reading you do with your children in their respective programs: reading and activities for the Summer Challenge, books for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and 500 Books Before Middle School.

No, those fields are optional, but if you want to use them, it is a great way to keep track of what you have read over the summer.

Top picks are books from the most popular subject areas for Kids and Adults that we have pulled out of the stacks to highlight. They are holdable and renewable and check out for three weeks.

Sure. Just fill out this form to let us know what you'd like us to consider purchasing. Not all publishers make their content available for libraries to purchase in a digital format, but we will see if something is available.

If the title you are trying to access when you see this error does not have holds, return the title, then Sign Out of your account and close the app. Open the app, sign in and check the title out again. If this doesn't help, or if the title in question has holds, contact Boundless tech support and ask for a device limit reset.

Because we value your privacy, we cannot check out materials to anyone who doesn't have their library card, knowledge or possession of their account number or a photo ID to prove their identity. Please remember to bring your library card with you if you plan to check items out. The MyJCPL app has a digital barcode function, or you can take a photo of the barcode on your smartphone and use that when you visit.

If you plan to check out holds for a friend or family member, you will need to have their library card or account number.

When you reserve your Culture Pass, your confirmation serves as your entry ticket, but also check that confirmation carefully for details about what additional steps you might need to take. Passes are only valid for the date printed on your confirmation.

To cancel your Culture Pass booking, use the link from your confirmation email, or contact us for assistance.

Removing fines on library materials supports our strategic priority to improve access to our materials and services to all our users. This initiative also aligns us with future-focused recommendations included in the new Colorado Public Library Standards and the practices of many of our peer and neighboring libraries.

You may check out a total of 200 (temporarily increased from 99) items, and have 200 (temporarily increased from 60) holds on your library card. E-books, downloadable audio, e-magazines, and streaming music/movies are not included in this count.

A comment is like a review. Your opinion makes it easier for other members to discover new titles, and helps them determine if these items are of interest. To add your review to a title, log into your account and search for the title. Scroll down to the Community Activity section on the title's detail page and click Add a Comment. Type or paste your thoughts in the text box and click Post Comment when you are finished. To give a title a star rating, click the number of stars you think it deserves.

  • Curbside Service

Yes, you may return your items in our book drop.

  • E-books & More

Publishers require us to abide by a “one copy/one user” model, so we have to purchase most e-books in the same way we purchase physical books.

Please use the Student Support Request Form to connect with a local librarian. This information is also posted to the Jeffco Schoology account for educators.

  • Mobile App

After you install MyJCPL from the app store on your device, you will need to enter your library card number or username, and your four-digit PIN. Please let us know if you need help.

It usually means we don’t have that specific edition of the title in our collection. Each edition of a title has a unique ISBN, so search by title to be sure.

You can add and access multiple library cards from the My Library Cards screen, which can be accessed by tapping on the card icon near the top right. Add a library card number by tapping on the ‘Add card’ button and logging in with that account.

To switch between accounts, tap on the card icon near the top right (My Library Cards), then swipe left or right to move between library cards. When you see the card you want to use, tap in the circle next to Use This Card.

A maximum of 8 library cards can be added to the app, and cards must be added to the app on each device separately. Logging out of the app will not remove cards, but uninstalling the app, or clearing phone cache, will remove all stored cards.

No, but all those options remain available from our mobile website via a browser on your device.

Yes. Since searching our collection and using My Account both require real-time communication with the catalog, the app does require Wi-Fi or a data connection.

  • Online Resources

There are only a few of our resources that you have to access from a computer within the library, and those are Ancestry, Foundation Directory, and Generations Online.

When you access one of our online resources from home, we make sure you have a valid library card by asking you to log in. Please see this FAQ if you are having trouble logging in.

From the library homepage, click on Online Library and then Databases to see a large set of databases. Return to the full Online Library to browse all of our online resources by format, age group, topic or alphabetical listing. Most databases and online resources will ask you to log into your library account when you access them away from the library.

Due to privacy policies, it is not possible to highlight course completions or certificates in your personal LinkedIn account for courses taken through the Library's LinkedIn Learning subscription.

If LinkedIn Learning asks you for a Library ID, try entering "jeffcolibrary." If that does not work, go back to our homepage (jeffcolibrary.org), change the Search box to Website and search for LinkedIn. Use the link under Resource. Our specific link can also be found in various places in our Online Library.

  • Summer Challenge

    Android Tutorial | Apple Tutorial

Children ages 0 - 5 are eligible for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, and children ages 5 - 12 are eligible for our 500 Books Before Middle School in addition to the Library Summer Challenge. All three programs are run in Beanstack. Be sure to count any reading you do with your children in their respective programs!

After you log into your account, click on the box in the top right with your name on it, and you will see an option to Add a Reader.

Click Sign In and click on Forgot Your Password. The system will send an email to you with instructions for resetting your password.

To edit any of your reading minutes entries:

    • log into your account
    • click on Reading Log
    • click on a date in the calendar
    • click on a book jacket, or the red rectangle
    • click Edit or Remove next to the erroneous entry, then Save.

It isn't possible to edit any logged activities, so just don't worry about those!

Click on the name in the top right corner, select your child from the drop-down, or click on Change Readers and then select your child. Click again on their name in the top corner, and then click on the pencil icon next to their name. Make any changes needed there, and click Save.

If you need to edit something in the main account, click the gear button at the top right, then click on Edit Account.

We will post a leaderboard on the School Contest page each week after the program kicks off on June 1.

You can expect an email from the system each time you earn a prize. If you opted in to JCPL emails, you will hear from us occasionally with information about events and services. You can always manage your email preferences by clicking Unsubscribe at the bottom of the JCPL emails.

Children ages 0 - 5 are eligible for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, and children ages 5 - 12 are eligible for our 500 Books Before Middle School program in addition to our Library Summer Challenge program.
