Reading Rock Stars!

Engaging students in reading is one of the best ways to help ensure future success in school, college or career.

Jefferson County Public School students are competing to win $800 for their school, thanks to support from the Jefferson County Library Foundation.

Awards will be given to schools in five categories with the highest percentage of finishers. Sorry parents and teachers - this one’s for the students. Only summer readers between the ages of four and 18 can participate, but you can cheer them on!

School Contest Rules

  • Open to Jefferson County Public Schools only.
  • Only readers between the ages of 4 and 18 can participate.
  • Winning schools will receive $800 to support literacy based programs or activities.
  • To win, the school must have the highest percentage of finishers, based on 2016-2017 school enrollments as reported to the State of Colorado.
  • In the event of a tie, the prize will be awarded to the school with the highest total average minutes per student.
  • One school in each of the five categories listed below will be awarded a cash prize:
    • Preschool
    • Elementary School
    • Middle School
    • High School
    • Charter/Choice/Option
