Construction for the Arvada Library Redesign is nearing the mid-way point, and we have reached several exciting milestones since demolition began in January.
Notable accomplishments so far:
- Interior demolition to remove flooring, walls, fixtures and even the stairs
- Excavating exterior foundations where needed
- Pouring foundation concrete
- Installing plumbing fixtures in the basement
Upcoming milestones the construction team is currently working towards:
- Finishing basement plumbing
- Framing walls on the first level
- Cutting the floor in the second level for the new stair location
- Placing structural infill at the southwest corner to enclose the existing overhang
The Arvada Balsam Temporary Library also opened in January to wonderful feedback from our patrons. In addition to collections, computer access, printing and programming, we added curbside pickup as a service at this location in response to patron requests. This location will remain open throughout the construction.
In June, we invited members of the Library Board of Trustees, Jefferson County Library Foundation and City of Arvada officials to tour the construction site and learn more about the project from the contractors and architects. Exciting things are in store for the Arvada Library, and we are grateful for their support and enthusiasm for the project.
Construction is anticipated to go into spring 2027, and the Library will reopen next year.
