South County Library Project
Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) is embarking on an ambitious plan to open a new Library destination in the southern region of Jefferson County to provide greater access to resources, information, and opportunities for every generation.
Project Updates
It’s official! After an extensive search for a new South County Library home, JCPL has closed on an existing property at 11100 Bradford Rd. in Littleton, CO, with plans to transform it into a new library.
Engagement efforts are underway through March to gather feedback and ensure the new library effectively serves as a vibrant community hub for both current and future generations to create, discover and connect. Our project partners, EUA and Clermont Eliot, have worked with JCPL to offer a variety of innovative ways for patrons and staff to participate in this process.
Community engagement details are outlined below. The results will be presented to the Board of Trustees in May.

JCPL’s site search process encompassed several routes for finding and exploring sites, including JCPL driving tours of the area, working with a commercial realtor, pursuing suggestions from the community and advisory council, conversations with community stakeholders, reviewing Jeffco school closures, and pursuing opportunities for partnerships and sites that were not on the market.
JCPL considered 50 properties within five broad categories: Repurposing an industrial building, repurposing a school or place of worship, partnering with a developer for a library combined with affordable housing, using a retail storefront, and purchasing open land.

In addition to physical and digital library materials, the Library will provide community resources such as meeting space, Wi-Fi, computer access, programs and events, and more. JCPL will conduct facilitated community engagement in early 2025 to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on desired library services, resources and design.
