Shell-ebrating the Library Summer Challenge

It’s time to wave goodbye to another fin-tastic Library Summer Challenge. This year's challenge exceeded expectations, and that's all thanks to you! 28,738 challenge participants were eager to dive deep into summer learning this year, and 17,493 readers finished the challenge to find the buried treasure at the bottom of the ocean!

This year's challenge participants made a splash and breezed past our goal of 25 million points logged. We finished the summer with 31,738,907 points overall! Because of your hard work, we're placing your points directly back onto the plates of the Jeffco community by donating $500 to Jeffco Eats.

But that's not all! We're excited to announce the five winners in this year's School Contest. These students claimed victory and won their school $800 for their libraries and literacy initiatives from the Jefferson County Library Foundation.

This year’s winners:

  • Preschool: Jefferson County Open Preschool
  • Elementary School: Devinny Elementary School
  • Middle School: Evergreen Middle School
  • High School: Green Mountain High School
  • Charter/Private: Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen

Stay tuned for the winners of this year's Teen Writing Contest! We're hosting an awards ceremony on September 10 at Belmar Library to celebrate the amazing stories submitted that explored the depths of our community's creativity.

Thank you to both patrons and staff who made this year’s Library Summer Challenge go swimmingly. We’d like to thank our sponsors The Jefferson County Library Foundation, The Melvin & Elaine Wolf Foundation, Applewood Business Association, 1st Bank, Downtown Aquarium and Elitch Gardens. We cannot wait to “sea” what next summer brings!
