JCPL Can Help You in Your Job Search

If you’re hunting for a new job or looking to start or grow your own business, Jefferson County Public Library is here for you!

You can find dozens of career and business resources at JCPL. You may be aiming for promotion or crafting your resume and practicing interviews. Whatever you’re looking for, JCPL can help you learn how to market yourself to potential employers, or explore how to start and run your own successful business.

Our librarians have compiled several lists of helpful books, workbooks and skill-building materials for the stage you’re in. These include book lists on looking for your first job, opens a new window, embarking on your career, opens a new window just out of college and advancing your career, opens a new window from your current position.

You can find resource centers that provide training and job search support in English and Spanish on our Jobs & Career page, opens a new window. There are posted job opportunities with the State of Colorado and other job boards with nonprofits and government organizations. The resources include practice tests and test preps for a variety of entrance exams, including the GED, law enforcement, cosmetology, GMAT and more, while also offering tips to build your resume and cover letter.

Beyond all of those resources, JCPL, in collaboration with the Jefferson County Business and Workforce Center, is offering a weekly virtual workshop series called “Accelerate Your Career.” These workshops are offered Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and on Thursdays from 4 – 7 p.m. through September 10.

The topics include networking, crafting a resume to get interviews, networking with LinkedIn, and interviewing to impress and land a job, each led by a facilitator specializing in the weekly topic.
