Now Open: Create Space at Belmar Library

Explore your creativity in our new community makerspace

New services are now available at Belmar Library with the opening of our very first Create Space. The Create Space will house a variety of new equipment, allowing patrons to try 3D printing, laser cutting and more.

“This new space embodies our commitment to Creative Technology,” said Jonah Vallez, creative technology supervisor. “It serves as a dynamic learning center where access to leading-edge technology can help foster creativity, innovation and collaboration within our community.”

The Create Space will be open on Thursdays and Fridays, offering one-hour sessions with staff support. To use the space, JCPL cardholders need to be a resident of Jefferson County with no fines or fees over $50 on their account.

No skills or experience are necessary to book the Create Space. Instead, our staff will offer required, one-on-one orientation sessions to demonstrate how to use the equipment.

There are numerous projects that can be made using the Create Space. A few sample ideas include custom vinyl stickers, key chains and a variety of 3D printed materials – from bag clips to fidget tools.

“The creative process enriches our lives in so many ways,” said Belmar Library Manager Briana Francis. “We are excited to offer these tools to the community and look forward to seeing what our patrons create.”

We invite you to swing by the Belmar Library on Thursdays from 1:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to meet our creative technicians, take a peek into the space and hear more about creative opportunities at JCPL.
