Boundless Access Set to End

Young man with glasses and a yellow beanie lying on his back and laughing while listening to his device via earbuds. After a summer of preparation, Jefferson County Public Library is set to move its Boundless digital collection to Libby, by Overdrive on Oct. 15!

To prepare for this transition, we'll disable the ability to check out new items or place new holds in Boundless on Oct. 7. Don't worry — any current checkouts or holds you already have will remain active. This step helps us maintain up-to-date information for a seamless transfer of content later this month.

Starting on Oct. 14, our Boundless materials will be turned off, and a collection of more than 100,000 e-books and audiobooks will begin appearing in Libby. As they arrive, we'll transfer your existing Boundless holds to the new Libby titles. This migration may take a few days to complete as content syncs within Libby. During this time, you may experience some delays when accessing new titles or migrated holds. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve our digital offerings.

How to Prepare for Transfer

To help ensure a successful transfer, please take the following steps before Oct. 7:

  1. Set up your Libby Account: We're unable to migrate your Boundless holds to Libby unless you've created a Libby Account. To get started, log in with your JCPL card number at libbyapp.com or download Libby on your preferred device.
  2. Mind Your Holds: There is no need to take any action on Boundless holds prior to transfer. Previous information recommended canceling holds on duplicate items; however, that is no longer necessary. If you are concerned about your holds, you can print or save a list of them for peace of mind.
  3. Copy Your Lists: Unfortunately, your Boundless Wishlist and Checkout History won't transfer to Libby. If these features are important to your reading experience, we recommend copying your lists over to a different platform or printing them for reference. Learn more about recreating your wishlist in Libby.
  4. Learn Libby: Eager to hit the ground…reading? Now's the perfect time to get familiar with Libby. While most of our collection will migrate later this month, you can start exploring Libby today. Discover audiobooks, e-books, magazines and special features like Skip the Line to enhance your reading experience.
  5. Wrap Up Your Reading: Items currently checked out in Boundless will remain accessible after the final transfer so that you can finish reading without interruption, based on your existing loan periods. However, renewals may not be available for any Boundless checkouts after Oct. 7. After Oct. 15, JCPL will no longer appear as a library under the Boundless platform, and you may remove the app from your device once you've completed your reading.

While we've worked hard to transfer as much of our collection as possible, there are a few materials we're unable to move. After the migration is complete, if you notice any missing holds, please contact us. Our staff will be happy to help you explore your options, whether that's trying a different format, requesting the item from another library system or suggesting it for purchase.
