Library Summer Challenge: School Contest

You can help win money for your school! Read, listen to audiobooks, tackle fun activities and log your progress, all on your way to help improve your school's finisher rate. Every school that shows improvement will be entered into a drawing to win $800!

Contest Rules

The Library Summer Challenge takes place June 1 - July 31. Register starting May 1.

How to Participate

When registering for the Library Summer Challenge, select the school you or your child will be attending next fall. The points you earn for your activities and reading will automatically count toward the school competition!

Sorry parents and teachers — the School Contest part of the Summer Challenge is only for the students (ages 4 - 18), but please encourage and cheer on your students. Also, group participation will not be counted in the school contest.

School Categories

One school in each of the five categories is awarded a cash prize of $800 from Jefferson County Library Foundation:

  • Preschool
  • Elementary School
  • Middle School
  • High School
  • Option/Charter/Multi-Level Schools

How to Win

  • Only Jefferson County Public Schools are eligible.
  • Every school will be notified of their finisher rate from last year. 2023 School Finisher Rates, opens a new window
  • Each school will try to improve its own finisher rate from the year before. Every school that shows .5 percent improvement will be entered into a drawing to win $800. Schools that did not participate previously will be given an artificial (average) 2023 finisher rate.
  • Jeffco students, it's time to accept the Summer Challenge. Sign up. Choose your school. Read. Log your progress. And win!
