Jefferson County Public Library and Foothills Animal Shelter Issue Appeal to Jeffco Readers

Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) and Foothills Animal Shelter are hoping the Library’s Summer Reading Program will go to the dogs…. as well as cats, hamsters, rabbits, and other furry friends.

When JCPL launched its Summer Reading program in June, it issued a community challenge: read a collective 30 million minutes, and the Jefferson County Library Foundation will donate $500 to the Foothills Animal Shelter.

“With just a few days to go, we’re close to meeting that 30-million-minute goal,” said Pam Nissler, executive director, JCPL. “We’re asking everyone in the community to pitch in and help us over the goal line.”

“We’re excited to see Jeffco readers bring us so close to the community reading goal,” said Jessi Burns, Marketing & Communications Manager for Foothills Animal Shelter. “We could really use the $500 prize to continue our mission of providing the best possible care to every animal that enters our doors. The $500 would allow us to provide essential medical, behavioral and life-saving care to homeless pets in our community.”

Jeffco residents can sign up for Summer Reading, log their reading minutes and win prizes through July 31 at https://summerreading.jeffcolibrary.org/ .
