Experience Museo de las Americas With JCPL

For years, JCPL has been partnering with Museo de las Americas to champion Latin American art and culture. Whether you’ve visited the museum using our Culture Pass or attended one of the many workshops that Museo has hosted with us, we love sharing these experiences with you. For the next few months, you will be able to visit new Museo exhibits from the comfort of your local Library!

The Sin Fronteras program connects community locations with traveling exhibits from Museo. The Evergreen and Lakewood libraries will host installations that will introduce you to the rich histories of Latin American music, art, textiles and more.

March 1 – 31: Rhythm and Dance/ Ritmo y Baile at Evergreen Library

During the month of March, you’ll discover the rich history of Latin American music and dance at the Evergreen Library. The Rhythm and Dance exhibit features masks, musical instruments and artistic depictions of musical celebrations. This exhibit is perfectly suited for adults and kids aged 11 and older.

May 1 – June 30: Threads/Hilos at Lakewood Library

Experience Latin America’s artistic traditions with an exhibit dedicated to textiles, art and artifacts. You’ll see vibrant installations and learn about an important cultural heritage. This exhibit is great for all ages.

As part of this exhibit, we are hosting a workshop that’ll introduce you to the art of Guatemalan Textiles. After learning about the Maya people and their cultural history, work on your textile pattern to take home! This workshop is designed for adults, teens and tweens.
