Next Monday will mark 10 weeks since closures began in Jefferson County. Since then, all of us have been impacted in some way by the COVID-19 virus. We remain confident that our community is resilient, and are glad to share more opportunities and resources with you in today’s email.
I’m also excited to share that JCPL is launching curbside services this weekend, by appointment only. We are piloting hold pickups at Standley Lake Library, and gradually will expand curbside services to our other locations. Patrons with holds at this location were sent emails inviting them to schedule an appointment for curbside pickup of those items.
Our team has prepared a workflow that prioritizes the safety of our community and staff by maintaining social distancing and eliminating person-to-person contact. Patrons with scheduled appointments will receive detailed information on where to park, how to verify their library membership, and the steps to receiving their library materials. Our process has been reviewed by the Jefferson County Department of Public Health, and we continue to follow their orders and guidelines. We look forward to expanding curbside services to eight library locations by the end of May.
We understand many are eager to return library materials. Please know that all due dates have been extended and late fees waived during this time. Next week, we will share our plan to begin book returns in a way that allows us to quarantine materials safely. For now, book returns remain closed, as are library buildings, and we ask that you continue to keep those materials unless you hear from us.
Rest assured that it won’t ALWAYS BE like this, and even in tough times, we can connect, learn and grow.
Thank you,
Donna Walker
