Coming Soon: New Books and a New Primary Vendor for JCPL

Incoming Print Materials to be Handled by Ingram in Response to Baker & Taylor's Closing

Baker & Taylor, Jefferson County Public Library’s (JCPL) primary vendor for print materials for several decades, is ceasing operations in January 2026 after 198 years in business. We are sad to see the closure of this long-time staple in the library industry.

As part of their closing, Baker & Taylor will not be getting any new titles to sell to libraries. While this situation has caused delays in receiving new print titles, our Collections staff are doing everything they can to remediate this issue. JCPL is currently in the process of moving all orders to our new vendor, Ingram. It will take some time to reorder everything through Ingram, as we had over 4,000 titles on order with Baker & Taylor that will not be filled.

We are prioritizing reordering the most popular titles first, and can report that we have already received several shipments of items that were reordered from Ingram. We expect more deliveries from them daily.

While new print titles may be slow in arriving, we do have several alternatives, starting with a great collection of e-books and audiobooks available on Libby and Hoopla. Looking for your next great read while you wait? JCPL staff have recommendations for all readers and occasions. Finally, Prospector is a partnership of many Colorado and Wyoming libraries that cardholders can use to search for materials that are not available in the JCPL catalog.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to establish new systems and reorder materials as efficiently as possible. Please reach out to library staff with any questions you may have.
