Bookmobile to Provide Service for All Ages in Southern Jeffco
(Lakewood, Colo. – July 7, 2014) Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) is bringing library services to the Ken Caryl area beginning Saturday, July 12. The Library’s Bookmobile will begin weekly service for patrons of all ages from 12-4 p.m. each Saturday in the Safeway parking lot, located at the intersection of Ken Caryl Ave. and Shaffer Pkwy.
“We’ve known for some time that the southern portion of Jefferson County is one of our most underserved areas,” said Pam Nissler, executive director, JCPL. “When we built the Columbine Library on West Bowles, the local population totaled about 55,000. Now it’s more than twice that and demand for library service just keeps growing!
“While we can’t expand library space due to budget constraints, we hope our new Bookmobile service will help to meet that growing demand by providing some of our most popular services to this community.”
Local residents will be able to check out and return materials; place and pick up reserved items; and find out about other library services. The Bookmobile collection contains more than 1,200 items for patrons of all ages in a variety of formats—books, DVDs, and audiobooks.
Patrons may begin using the Bookmobile as a pick-up location for reserved items beginning July 12 by choosing “Bookmobile” in the dropdown menu from the Library catalog at jeffcolibrary.org. They will be able to use their existing JCPL library card or sign up for a library card on the Bookmobile.
