Free Books for Four-Year-Olds at Jeffco Public Library through One Book 4 Colorado Program Celebrations

(Lakewood, CO – March 28, 2014) From April 7-21, families with four-year-old children living in Jefferson County may pick up a free book at any Jefferson County Public Library location.

Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) is once again participating in Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia’s One Book 4 Colorado program to provide a new book to every four-year-old in the state. Books will be available for pick up at all JCPL locations from April 7-21, during normal business hours. In addition, special One Book 4 Colorado celebrations will be taking place at each JCPL location at the times and locations listed below. To find the library closest to you, please visit

“This program is about more than giving free books to children,” said JCPL Executive Director Pam Nissler. “We hope that by participating we will help instill a love of reading in young children and help families serve as their children’s first and most important teachers. By visiting the library, these families can also see the many other programs and resources we provide to help our younger patrons learn important pre-reading skills, establish a foundation for success in school and become life-long learners.”

To celebrate One Book 4 Colorado and encourage families to visit the Library to pick up their free book, JCPL is hosting special celebrations with storytimes and crafts at each location:
