Stay Safe with AARP Elderwatch

Recognize and prepare for scams and fraud

More than half of Coloradoans age 50+ express being very or extremely concerned about identity theft. And there's no wonder why. AARP reports that for older Coloradoans, 51 percent have noticed fraudulent charges on their debit or credit card, 40 percent have had personal information (such as an account number) compromised, and 15 percent have even had their Social Security number compromised. AARP estimates that older populations are cheated out of nearly $3 million each year due to fraud and scam.

We're here to help. In partnership with AARP Elderwatch, we're offering a series of programs this September  to October  to prepare you and your loved ones to fight financial exploitation. From learning the basics, like how to report and recognize fraud, to covering detailed Internet, email or smartphone scams, AARP Elderwatch works to ensure that no older adults are left to suffer, alone and in silence, at the hands of those who exploit them.

Discover the tools to protect yourself at this system-wide series. Get informed and stay safe with AARP Elderwatch!
