Meet Nicole Hensley, US Olympic Athlete and Belmar and Lakewood Library Fan

Wondering what an olympic athlete reads?

Meet Nicole Hensley. Nicole grew up in Lakewood, Colorado, attending Green Mountain High School playing hockey for the all-girls Colorado Select hockey program.

She is now in Pyeongchang, South Korea, representing Lakewood, Colorado and the United States in her role as goalie for the women’s US Olympic Hockey Team.

Beyond playing hockey as a kid, Nicole has fond memories of visiting the Belmar and Lakewood Libraries. We reached out to Nicole to ask if she'd share some of her favorite books and stories with us, so we could share them with you!

Here are some of Nicole's favorite childhood books, and here's what she's been reading lately!

"I always remember going to the library being like an adventure,” Nicole recalled. “As a kid, I obviously rushed to the kids section! I just flipped through books trying to decide on only two or three to check out. I remember my mom always having to come find my sister, Brittany, and I, to help us pick out books she thought we might enjoy.”
