We are proud to be teaming up with Jewish Family Services (JFS) Lunchbox Express to provide free lunches for Colorado kids at select JCPL locations through the summer. The program, which runs Monday through Friday from May 31 – Aug. 12 at the Edgewater, Lakewood and Belmar locations, is open to kids 18 and under and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. No qualifications or paperwork required.
“JCPL is so excited to welcome back Lunch Box Express! This partnership allows for kiddos in our community to get a free meal during the week in the summer when they don’t have access to school meals,” says Debra Keane, Social Work Coordinator for JCPL. “Since it’s open to everyone under 18, it’s a great way to make sure every young person in our community has access to healthy food.”
Many kids and teens rely on their access to free or reduced-fee lunches during the school year. JFS Lunchbox Express addresses summertime food insecurity by offering free afternoon meals to hungry kids until school starts back up again.
