Jefferson County Public Library to upgrade self-service options for patrons

Beginning this week, Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) is upgrading to new service kiosks at nine JCPL library locations. These new selfCheck™ kiosks, offered by bibliotheca™, allow patrons to complete a number of self-service transactions − including checking out Library materials and paying fines and fees – quickly and efficiently.

The selfCheck kiosks, with quickConnect™ software by bibliotheca, offer a quick and convenient workflow, providing a faster check out experience for patrons. Large display screens provide audible, visual and text features to guide patrons through the entire transaction. The new kiosks offer enhanced security to protect patrons’ credit card information during and after every financial transaction. They also have the ability to present information on Library resources.

“These new service kiosks represent a huge improvement for our patrons,” said Pam Nissler, executive director, JCPL. “They are highly intuitive and easy to use, and they bring together both self-service and discovery capabilities. Once patrons are accustomed to the new kiosks, we’ll be able to promote other library programs and events on the display screens to help patrons discover more Library resources that may be of interest.”

Installation of the new kiosks begins March 20, and covers every library except Edgewater (due to space constraints).
