Jefferson County Public Library Receives State Funding for 2017

Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) announced today that it has received a grant for $131,272 from the Colorado State Library through the State Grants to Libraries Act. The grant will apply to JCPL’s 2017 revenues and will be used to purchase educational materials.

“We’re grateful to have these resources to support our literacy and educational initiatives,” said Pam Nissler, executive director, JCPL. “We are committed to the goal of helping every child in Jefferson County enter kindergarten with the skills they need to be ready to read, and these funds will help us to buy books and other resources to assist us in that effort.”

Under the State Grants to Libraries Act, publicly supported libraries in Colorado, including public libraries, school libraries, and academic libraries, may apply for funds to obtain educational resources they would otherwise be unable to afford. In October, 2016-2017 grants totaling $2,461,462 were awarded to 315 libraries across Colorado.
