Be a Fairy Godmother: Prom Swap Is Back

Prom season is upon us and that means it’s time to dig out that no-longer-needed formal attire and fill the racks at the sixth annual Jefferson County Public Library Prom Swap.

This Jefferson County tradition takes donated dresses, tuxedos/suits, shoes and accessories and makes them available to teens. Teens receive tickets to trade for new-to-you items. People can also “buy” tickets with canned goods: five cans per dress or tuxedo/suit; two for shoes; one per accessory. There’s even an onsite seamstress for quick alterations and makeup and hair stylists for extra style tips.

Leftover donations benefit Florence Crittenton High School, one of the largest and most complete providers of services for pregnant and parenting teens in the state of Colorado, and the Jeffco Action Center which provides immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.

Donations for Prom Swap will be accepted at Belmar Library in Lakewood from March 19 to 25. Prom Swap makes dreams come true when it opens its doors open on Saturday, March 25.
