Rules and Guidelines

This is a family friendly event. We want everyone to have a good time, so please follow the guidelines below.

Costume Guidelines

  • Costumes must be appropriately modest.
  • Keep private parts private. This means chest and bottoms must be covered.
  • Please avoid thongs, sheer materials or illusion of nudity.
  • A costume of full body paint coverage is not acceptable coverage.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Costumes should be securely fastened to prevent mishaps (attaching fabric to body with only glue is not acceptable).
  • Any heavy makeup or body paint should be properly sealed to prevent creating a mess.
  • Please limit particularly gory or bloody effects and makeup.

Prop Guidelines

We appreciate that props can make the costume, but please follow these guidelines to ensure a safe event for everyone. Acceptable prop materials include foam, light plastic, paper, cardboard, cloth and rubber.

  • No real or realistic-looking firearms or firearm props.
  • No metal or wooden swords or blades of any kind.
  • No blunt weapons.
  • Nothing that can fire any sort of projectile (Nerf guns, water guns, etc.)
    • Bows must either have no string or be very loosely strung with no arrows.
  • No hoverboards, rollerblades/skates, scooters, skateboards, or wheeled shoes.

If necessary, staff may ask people to return props to their car or to adhere more closely to the dress requirements. Staff may apply additional costume and/or prop restrictions if they feel it is necessary for the safety of participants. Participants may be denied entry into Fandomoium! if they do not follow staff directions related to props and costumes.
