Way to go, Jeffco! We have officially met the halfway point of our Summer Reading marathon goal of 26.2 million minutes. While we know this is a lofty and ambitious goal, we believe you can make it happen. We are already ahead of where we were last year, both in registered readers and minutes.

Keep reading! Keep signing up your friends and family! Keep logging your minutes! We still have plenty of water bottles (and sippy cups for the under 3 crowd!).  There’s also a free Chipotle kid’s meal or burrito for teens (BOGO for adults), and a free ice McDonald’s ice cream cone when you hit the hallway point.

And when you reach your end goal, you’ll have earned your free book!

Remember – everything you read counts!  Books, audiobooks, ebooks, menus, magazines, business reports – even cereal boxes! You read more than you probably think each day so make the minutes count!

So let’s do it. Let’s keep going! Let’s zoom pass last year’s 18 million minutes and finish this marathon!

Storytelling has been part of Jewish religion and custom from earliest times, and to this day remains a defining aspect of Jewish life. The best part is that you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy these stories. With humor, warmth and wisdom, Jewish stories entertain, teach and fascinate listeners of all ages and backgrounds.

Explore Jewish culture through a fun series of stories and activities presented by Judaism in the Foothills, B’nai Chaim, Jewish Colorado and PJ Library. We’ll even send you home with a free kid’s book.

OneBook 4 Colorado, the popular reading program that puts books in the hands of young children and encourages families to read together is back, with events and book giveaways scheduled April 11-25 throughout the state. This year’s book is Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae and we’re giving it away to every 4-year-old (in English AND Spanish) that visits a Jeffco library between today and April 25!

Giles Andreae will be hosting a live Google Hangout on April 19 at 9:00 a.m. and you can join the chat with him on One Book 4 Colorado’s Google+ page. Ask the author questions and find out more about this year’s book!
