(Lakewood, Colo. – Feb. 19, 2014) Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) announced today that it has named Eric Roberts to the position of director of information technology (IT), effective March 3, 2014.
“We are pleased that Eric will be joining us,” said Pam Nissler, executive director, JCPL. “The role that technology plays in libraries cannot be overstated; it is a critical enabler for the Library, our patrons and our community. Eric’s extensive experience in IT development, infrastructure and management should stand us in good stead as we work to provide 21st century library services.”
In his new role, Roberts will be responsible for the overall planning, policy creation, direction, and operation of the Library’s IT department. He is charged with setting the Library’s technology vision and strategy; recommending and implementing appropriate technologies for patron access and use; overseeing computer services, applications, systems, networks, security and communications; and managing a staff of 11.
Roberts brings nearly 20 years of experience in information technology. Prior to joining JCPL, he served as a Senior IT Project Manager for Jefferson County. He has held senior-level positions with a number of technology companies, including Pacific Metrics Corporation; Blue Dot Solutions; Lipper, a Thomson Reuters company; and Triad Financial Corporation. In 1997, he co-founded and served as chief technology officer for Grey Zone, Inc., an Internet software company delivering solutions in Web security, content management, eCommerce and portal technology to Fortune 500 companies. Roberts holds a B.A. degree in computer science from the University of California in Santa Cruz.
Roberts replaces Steve Endicott, who resigned in June, 2013 to accept a position with Academy School District 20 in Colorado Springs.
