On Golden Pond

Seniors stimulate their brains by participating in home-delivery book groups.

Connection is key at Golden Pond Retirement Community.

For two years, Jefferson County Public Library’s Library to You, opens a new window service has provided books for residents of this small retirement and assisted living center in Golden to participate in an at-home book group.

For many residents, like Kathy Boland, a book group member since it began, opportunities to chat about books and learn new information like this are invaluable.

"[Book group] forces us to reach out to books that we normally wouldn't and expand our knowledge," Kathy says. "If you've never been in a book [group], you don't appreciate how fulfilling it can be. You feel like you've learned [something], and that's very important as we get older. We [need] to stimulate our brains."

Hear the rest of our conversation with Kathy as she shares more about her favorite parts about book group and even some of her favorite reads!
