The Edgewater Library started life in the 1930s as a city library and is still an important thread in the fabric of its community. Surrounded on all sides by the spreading metropolitan area, Edgewater retains its identity as a friendly small town. On the main street, the library, along with the fire and police stations, help define the town center and welcome neighbors there.

"Welcome" is the right word for the Edgewater Library. Visitors can choose books from the collection specially selected to reflect the eclectic tastes of the neighborhood, including a growing number of Spanish titles. Then, if they're not in a hurry, they can sit and read all afternoon in the inviting rocking chairs waiting for them. Children can find what they want in their own little alcove. Everything is close at hand and easy to find.

And being part of the larger Jefferson County Public Library, "everything" means access to all the library has to offer, including the shared collection of a million items, the Online Library and reference resources available on the three Web-enabled computers. Just like its town, the Edgewater Library keeps a small-town feel while at the same time being part of a much larger, dynamic community.
